Installing TLS root certificate authority on a new client device

You will need to install the Web Radio Control root certificate authority in every web browser or mobile device you use to access Web Radio Control. This TLS certificate has to be installed always before you access Web Radio Control for the first time on a new client device or a web browser.

It is necessary to install a TLS root certificate authority in every web browser you use to access Web Radio Control. The certificate enables a secure, encrypted network connection to Web Radio Control and, more specifically, to the DNS domain name (web address) you have chosen to use with Web Radio Control. These instructions apply to the recommended use case where you have created a new (so-called self-signed) certificate in the Web Radio Control setup user interface, as web browsers do not trust these certificates by default.

You can install the TLS certificate via the setup user interfaces (http://DOMAIN-NAME:8013) according to the following step:

  1. Click the button Install root certificate in the section 1) Access Web Radio Control on a new computer, tablet or phone of the setup user interface

  2. Choose the type of the browser or device you use (Firefox / Chrome / Android or Apple Safari (Mac) / iPhone / iPad)

  3. Download the TLS certificate file by clicking the link Install/download root certificate authority

  4. Follow the web browser-specific instructions:
