Frequently asked questions

I have got WRC installed, how do I use it?

You can find instructions and screenshots of the user interface in the user guide.

Which web browsers and client devices does WRC support?

You can find more details about the supported software on the hardware requirements page.

Web Radio Control runs on a Raspberry Pi 2B, 3B or 4B single-board computer. The actual remote control happens via a web browser running on a desktop computer, a tablet or a phone.

The supported web browsers on a desktop computer are:

  • Mozilla Firefox (version 60 or newer)

  • Google Chrome or Chromium (version 68 or newer)

The browsers mentioned above are supported on Windows, Mac OS and Linux operating systems.

The latest versions of web browsers may not run on some older versions of Windows (e.g. XP and Vista).

On mobile devices, the remote control user interface works on the following platforms:

  • Android phones and tablets: Android 4.0 or a newer operating system is required

    • Always use the latest version of Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome browser

  • iPhones and iPads: Apple iOS 12 or a newer operating system is required

    • Use Apple Safari browser. Other browsers do not work correctly because of iOS limitations enforced by Apple.

What do I need to do to start using WRC on a new computer/phone/tablet?

Every new device or new web browser requires installation of a TLS root certificate to support the secure network connection to Web Radio Control, as web browsers do not trust the Web Radio Control certificates by default.

See instructions for /user-guide/installing-tls-certificate/[installing the TLS certificate].

You will need to set lanMode setting to value true in the Web Radio Control configuration file.

How do I use WRC in an IPv6 network?
